Edison NJ: Mayor Sam Joshi sent a resolution to Council at their work session last night [April 11] for the purchase of lumber to be used at the Township's first Community Garden. The resolution, if approved, will permit the Administration to enter into a contract with Edison Millwork and Hardware for the purchase of the cedar lumber.that will be used to construct individual planting areas.
The Community Garden will be built in Swales Park which is located off Woodbridge Avenue. Under Mayor Joshi's plan, 38 garden beds will be constructed and open to all residents of the Township. In addition to the garden beds, Swales Park will also be undergoing a major renovation. Additional trees will be planted, and a walking path developed around the perimeter of the park. A new sand volleyball court will be added, and the softball diamond will be improved.
